Job summary

Transportation Security Administration is seeking Federal Air Marshals to protect commercial aviation from terrorism and other threats. The role requires discretion, sound judgment, physical readiness, and the ability to work independently in high-pressure situations.

Position is located at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA, with frequent travel and variable duty schedules. Applicants must meet stringent eligibility criteria and pass multiple assessments, background checks, and training to qualify

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience or
• A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
• A qualifying combination of education and experience; transcripts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorist activity and other threats
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights
• Assess developing situations and respond with limited backup
• Carry firearms and maintain proficiency as required
• Conduct law enforcement, investigative, and advisory activities
• Identify and interview witnesses or suspects when required
• Make arrests and seek warrants within legal authority
• Participate in multi-agency operations with federal, state, and local partners
• Support ground-based transportation-security and counterterrorism missions
• Perform other specialized assignments, including Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations
