Job summary

The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids is seeking a Director of Federal Advocacy for Overdose Prevention in Washington, DC. You will lead the federal advocacy agenda, engaging with Congress and federal agencies to advance policies that expand addiction treatment and overdose prevention.

This senior role reports to the Associate Vice President of Overdose Prevention and is based in Washington, DC, offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits as part of a dedicated public health team.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of legislative and/or issue advocacy experience.
• Knowledge of the federal legislative process.
• Knowledge of tobacco or health policy issues.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently with only general supervision.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while juggling multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lobby Congressional offices on overdose prevention issues.
• Analyze legislation and draft policy/advocacy materials.
• Monitor bill introductions, hearings, and floor debates.
• Draft talking points and letters for grassroots activities.
• Participate in meetings with partner organizations.
• Coordinate with the Associate VP of Overdose Prevention.
• Monitor and respond to policies proposed by executive agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate VP.
