Job summary

The United States Department of Justice in the Eastern District of Virginia invites attorneys to join as Assistant United States Attorneys. You will handle your own civil and/or criminal caseload, representing the United States in trials and related matters.

Applicants must have a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar, and be a United States citizen. Preference given to those with federal court litigation experience or a clerkship.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree required and active bar in any U.S. jurisdiction.
• United States citizenship required.
• Preferred: experience litigating in federal courts or federal clerkship.

Responsibilities

• Work on Affinity Civil Enforcement (ACE) matters and represent the United States in civil actions.
• Handle own caseload and trials; assignments increase with experience.
• Comply with professional conduct rules and conflicts of interest requirements.
