Job summary

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum seeks a qualified accounting professional to manage reconciliations, journal entries, and comprehensive federal reporting in support of treasury and budget processes.

The role requires GAAP knowledge, extensive experience with federal reporting and systems, and collaboration with finance staff to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely statements at monthly, quarterly, and annual intervals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (or related field) with 24 hours in accounting; or equivalent
  • Experience reconciling accounts and preparing journal entries for adjustments
  • Experience producing federal financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) including SF-224, GTAS, SF-133, TROR
  • Familiarity with federal payment systems such as SPS/ITS and inter-agency payments

Responsibilities

  • Performs reconciliation of accounts to ensure subsystems agree to the General Ledger and Treasury balances; prepares journal entries to adjust balances
  • Prepares all federal financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis (SF-224, GTAS, SF-133, TROR, etc.)
  • Approves accounts payable payments within federal payment systems (SPS, ITS)
  • Processes Inter-Agency Agreements (IAA) and related payments
  • Develops recommendations for internal controls and financial/accounting policy to prevent waste and errors
  • Collaborates with analysts to finalize journal entries and resolve budget errors
  • Prepares recurring month-end journals and year-end expense accruals
  • Supports financial statement audits by providing data and responding to requests
  • Interprets guidelines and updates procedures to improve processes
  • Provides federal systems technical support to office users
