Job summary

Turner Construction Co. is seeking an experienced Equipment and Inventory Manager to oversee operations across multiple project sites, ensuring tool and fleet availability, safety, and cost-effectiveness for construction activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in equipment or inventory management, preferably in construction or rental industry.
  • Experience leading logistics or field support teams, including labor coordination and delivery operations.
  • Working knowledge of inventory controls, equipment lifecycle strategy, and construction site operations.
  • Familiarity with maintenance schedules, vendor negotiation, and material handling best practices.
  • Experience with construction-related tools and specialty equipment.
  • Experience with sustainability initiatives (e.g., electric tools, emissions reduction, green fleet operations).
  • Experience negotiating equipment and service contracts and managing supplier relationships.
  • Knowledge of construction logistics, equipment usage, and federal compliance (DOT, OSHA, EPA).
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and generate operational and financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develop scheduling and management of preventive maintenance for safety and compliance.
  • Track and report equipment utilization, fleet maintenance, and KPI metrics.
  • Collaborate with field teams, project leadership, and internal departments to maintain continuity and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records using ERP and equipment tracking software.
  • Identify process improvements to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Supervise and direct laborers, drivers, and field support teams.
  • Enforce safety policies, OSHA regulations, and proper equipment handling.
  • Lead the Equipment team, participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance feedback.

Salary Range (annualized): $126,000.00 - $220,000.00

Position Overview

Lead and optimize equipment and inventory operations across multiple project sites to support availability, safety, and cost‑effectiveness of tools, equipment, and fleet vehicles for construction and field operations. Oversee the lifecycle of tool and equipment assets, including procurement, logistics, maintenance, inventory tracking, and compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Hands‑on operations leader to oversee and manage FEC equipment inventory, logistics, and lifecycle operations, including acquisition, distribution, usage tracking, maintenance, and asset retirement with a commitment to safety and efficiency.
  • Implement and administer equipment charge‑out systems and rental programs in accordance with company policies and jobsite needs.
  • Source vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage procurement of tools, supplies, and equipment at scale.
  • Partner with Accounting to generate and manage billing for internal rentals, equipment sales, and chargebacks.
  • Coordinate delivery and pickup of equipment, including staging, inspections, and movement between sites.
  • Develop and implement scheduling and management of routine and preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections to support equipment safety, functionality, and compliance.
  • Track and report on equipment utilization, jobsite scrap‑outs, fleet maintenance, and operational key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Collaborate with field teams, project leadership, and internal departments (e.g., Audit, Finance, Safety, IS) to maintain operational continuity and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions, maintenance logs, and inventory data using ERP and equipment tracking software.
  • Identify process improvements and implement systems to streamline FEC equipment operations, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
  • Supervise and direct laborers, drivers, and field support teams involved in equipment handling and logistics.
  • Enforce and model compliance with safety policies, OSHA regulations, and proper equipment handling procedures.
  • Supervise the FEC Equipment team, participate in the hiring process, onboard new staff, and deliver timely performance feedback for direct reports. Contribute to performance appraisals during the annual performance cycle, utilize talent management systems, and identify appropriate training to support development needs.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
