Summary

The First Electronics Corporation (FEC) specializes in the manufacture of over-molded, extra flexible, multi-conductor, fully EMI-shielded cable assemblies, harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies for military applications and harsh environments. FEC also produces custom electro-mechanical assemblies and systems with no minimum order requirements. FEC is ISO 9001:2015 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified.

Job Description

Position: Termination Technician

FLSA Status: Hourly / Non-Exempt

Reports To: Termination Supervisor

Summary: Responsible for wire preparation, insulation removal, pin crimping, and ensuring electrical integrity of wire signals to meet customer specifications. Requires good vision (aided with magnification), ability to follow work instructions, and take supervisor guidance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience: Prior experience with IPC-620 cable manufacturing preferred but not required; training provided.
  • Knowledge: Will be trained on internal processes, wire removal, insulation, tinning, crimping, and connector insertion.
  • Skills: Attention to detail, manual dexterity, patience, pride in workmanship, ability to learn manufacturing techniques.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, walk, sit, lift up to 25 pounds, crouch, reach, and have close, color, and depth vision. Moderate noise level. Accommodations available for disabilities.

Position Duties
  • Wire measurement and insulation removal.
  • Use heat gun for soldering, sleeves, and heat shrink.
  • Crimp pins using proper tools.
  • Check electrical continuity with low-voltage buzzer.
  • Remove or separate shield braid with razor and pick.
Advanced Skills After Training
  • Tinning and soldering wires and contacts.
  • Interpreting wiring diagrams.
  • Maintaining IPC-620 quality standards.
Additional Responsibilities

Other duties and projects as assigned.
