Job summary

Fairbanks Morse Defense is seeking a Project Lead to plan, organize, execute, monitor, and control project activities within a program, while meeting contractual requirements and delivering exceptional customer service.

Candidates should have a degree and 0–3 years of project management experience, strong scheduling, cost/risk management, and proficiency with MS Office; Oracle/ERP experience is a plus. This role requires travel and collaboration with multiple teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in business administration, management, technical field, or equivalent PM experience.
  • 0–3 years of project management experience.
  • Strong customer relations skills and proven PM skills (scheduling, cost/risk management, negotiation).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, execute, monitor, coordinate, and control project activities within a program.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, schedule, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain project schedules and prepare monthly status reports.
  • Coordinate with functional disciplines to meet scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Travel 10-20%.

Job description

The Project Lead is responsible for planning, organizing, executing, monitoring, coordinating, and controlling project activities within a program; while fulfilling contractual requirements and maintaining customer service.

This position requires technical and administrative control of projects in accordance with the agreed contract requirements, schedule, commercial target, and any other regulatory body or class society requirements.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for successful execution and delivery of assigned project tasks within a program
  • Demonstrates project coordination skills including an understanding of physical progress, project organization, cost control, and regulatory agency rules
  • Ensures compliance with customer contract specifications, requirements, and terms and conditions
  • Collects and reports on data required to monitor project progress
  • Supports the Program Manager with contract compliance, project progress, financial / cost management, and subcontractor management
  • Create and maintain project schedules
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly status reports
  • Negotiate with all functional disciplines for accomplishment of necessary work within schedule, cost and scope requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business administration, management, technical degree, or equivalent project management experience
  • 0-3 years project management experience.
  • Must demonstrate ability to maintain a high level of customer relations skills.
  • Must possess demonstrated project management skills including scheduling, organizing, communication, problem-solving, cost & risk management, negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Flexibility - must adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules and priorities for multiple projects or assignments.
  • Must be competent in the use of MS Office Suite including Microsoft Projects.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to interact with customers.
  • Experience in Oracle or ERP software preferred.
  • Military experience, especially in the U.S. Navy, is a plus.
  • This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN). Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship and attest you do not have dual citizenship. Acceptable proof of U.S. Citizenship is a U.S. Passport, U.S. Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate.
Travel: 10-20%
