Job summary

GEO Secured Services in Florida is seeking qualified correctional officers to supervise inmates and maintain secure facility operations. The role requires FDLE certification and a high school diploma, with preference for college coursework in behavioral sciences.

Responsibilities include inmate supervision, movement coordination, safety oversight, contraband shakedowns, and detailed daily reporting. Overtime and a valid FL driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Must already be a certified correctional officer through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
• College coursework in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Must have a current valid state driver’s license.
• Experience in a correctional setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor inmates in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas.
• Coordinate their movement (counts and emergency response as needed).
• Ensure safety of program activities and supervise labor crews.
• Conduct shakedowns for contraband materials and confiscate prohibited items as per policies.
• Keep daily logs on inmates (including disciplinary reports).
• Provide prompt assistance to those who have been injured, ill, or traumatized.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to keep the facility clean.
