Library Technical Assistant I – 70047345

This advertisement is for an Career Service position located at Lowell Corretional Institution in the Education Department.

Salary Rate: $35,349.60 annually

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processes inmate requests pertaining to general and law library service.
  • Ensures the library is available to the inmates a minimum of 25 hours per week
  • Assigns research duties to inmate clerks.
  • Answers requests and grievances within mandatory time limits.
  • Performs photocopying.
  • Supervises activities of inmate aides and clerks.
  • Reviews research aides’ responses to requests.
  • Monitors check out and return of library materials.
  • Monitors interlibrary loan processing.
  • Monitors use of copy machine.
  • Ensures accuracy of records.
  • Evaluates clerk performance for gain time review.
  • Initiates appropriate disciplinary action.
  • Documents provision of library services.
  • Collects data and compiles reports for librarian approval.
  • Forwards law library invoices.
  • Forwards charge forms.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies.
  • Manage the resources of the library in accordance with the rules and statutes in place
