Job summary

FDA in Illinois seeks an Associate Investigator to work under Title 21 authority. The position is recruited under Pay Table 1, Band W (GS-7 equivalent) and involves inspections of FDA-regulated industries to determine compliance with U.S. laws and regulations.

The role requires a qualifying degree (or equivalent experience) and may involve collaboration with the Office of Inspections and Investigations (OII) within the Office of Import Operations (OIO).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in QA/management, data science, statistics, epidemiology, public health, engineering, or related field from an accredited program.
• No experience required for Band W with a bachelor’s degree; or at least 2 years of comparable FDA/regulatory experience for non-degree candidates.
• Transcripts must be submitted to demonstrate required education.

Responsibilities

• Inspect FDA-regulated facilities globally and evaluate compliance with U.S. laws and regulations.
• Prepare reports with supporting evidence documenting violations of the FD&C Act and related regulations.
• Provide internal and external stakeholder outreach, assistance, and mentoring to less experienced personnel.
