A research opportunity is available immediately with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) located in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) performs an essential public health task by making sure that safe and effective drugs are available to improve the health of people in the United States. As part of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), CDER regulates over-the-counter and prescription drugs, including biological therapeutics and generic drugs. This effort covers more than just medicines.
This educational research participation opportunity within FDA’s Office of Generic Drugs (OGD) provides a mentored learning experience focused on the evolving global landscape of generic drug regulation, manufacturing, and supply chain dynamics. The research experience emphasizes comparative evaluation of international regulatory frameworks, bioequivalence approaches, and scientific considerations that may influence generic drug quality, access, development pathways, and approval timelines across jurisdictions. You will engage in interdisciplinary research and training activities related to regulatory science, including exploration of analytical chemistry, pharmacokinetics, manufacturing sciences, regulatory policy, and global harmonization concepts under the guidance of FDA scientists and subject matter experts. The opportunity also includes educational exposure to generic drug user fee program planning, workflow analysis, process documentation, and knowledge management approaches to strengthen understanding of how scientific and regulatory planning activities are developed, evaluated, and refined within a public health context.
The mentor for this opportunity is Darby Kozak (Darby.Kozak@fda.hhs.gov). If you have questions about the nature of the research, please contact the mentor.
