Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy is offering a full-time research opportunity with the FDA, CDER, in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The project on Dose Optimization Over the Drug Lifecycle seeks to understand postmarketing dosage changes and inform dose strategies to improve patient dosing at the time of approval. The fellowship emphasizes learning objectives around analyzing trends, drivers, and patterns in dose

A research opportunity is available immediately with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), located in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) performs an essential public health task by making sure that safe and effective drugs are available to improve the health of people in the United States. As part of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), CDER regulates over-the-counter and prescription drugs, including biological therapeutics and generic drugs. These efforts cover more than just medicines.
Dose Optimization Over the Drug Lifecycle: Trends and Lessons from Postmarketing Dosage Changes in the Era of Targeted Therapies - Postmarketing dosage changes occur in approximately 20–25% of approved therapeutic products, driven by emerging safety signals, new subpopulation data, and expanded indications — yet systematic characterization of these changes across therapeutic areas and novel modalities remains limited. This project evaluates the patterns, drivers, and trends of postmarketing dosage changes to identify gaps in pre-approval dose optimization and inform more efficient, evidence-based dosing strategies that reduce downstream label revisions and support FDA's commitment to getting the right dose to the right patient at the time of approval.
