Qualifications

Job description

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate poverty and promote community flourishing. It supports youth and community services through contracts with a broad network of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) throughout New York City. DYCD administers city, state, and federal funds to innovative programs that positively impact youth and communities. As the designated Community Action Agency, DYCD manages federal Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) programs to help low-income individuals and families attain self-sufficiency.

Fatherhood Initiative

The initiative aims to help fathers reconnect with their children and develop parenting skills by:

  • Increasing engagement and responsibility in their relationship with their children;
  • Providing material and financial support;
  • Helping fathers access benefits and services.
Position: Fatherhood Program Specialist

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director and/or Director, the Program Specialist will manage a portfolio of Fatherhood programs, represent DYCD in citywide efforts, and coordinate campaigns and events.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Program oversight and compliance, including reviewing plans, conducting site visits, providing technical assistance, evaluating reports, and monitoring performance.
  2. Stakeholder engagement and community outreach, liaising with community groups, officials, and representing DYCD at meetings and events.
  3. Meeting coordination and event planning, including scheduling, promoting attendance, and organizing campaigns.
  4. Training, research, and technical support, staying updated on trends, offering expertise, and training CBO staff on DYCD systems.
  5. Administrative and reporting duties, including preparing reports, maintaining program goals, and supporting additional projects.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree with two years of community work experience, or
  • High school diploma with six years of relevant experience, or
  • Equivalent education/experience with at least one year of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of NYC contracting processes, strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, experience with target populations, and knowledge of human services programs and budgets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Information
