Need Local Arizona Residents Only 20 Hours/Week
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field required. Master’s (MSW) or clinical licensure (e.g., LCSW) preferred.
Certifications:
Trauma-informed interviewing certification required, ADHS can provide if needed.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

Description
The Informant Interviewer will serve as a key contributor to the Maternal Mortality Review and Child Fatality Review Programs by conducting trauma-informed, empathetic interviews with individuals who have lost an infant, a child, or a loved one due to pregnancy-associated causes. These interviews will support comprehensive death reviews by gathering essential qualitative data and translating it into de-identified case narratives for committee evaluation and prevention strategy development.
Key Responsibilities
•Interviewing: Conduct semi-structured interviews with bereaved family members, partners, or friends using trauma-informed and culturally sensitive techniques.
•Narrative Development: Develop anonymized case summaries from interviews for use by the Maternal Mortality Review Committee and the Child Fatality Review Team.
•Case Management: Manage assigned informant cases from initial review and scheduling to documentation and follow-up.
•Emotional Support, Intervention & Referrals: Provide immediate emotional support during interviews and be able to identify signs of emotional distress or crisis, responding with appropriate de-escalation techniques, and offering resources such as grief counseling and mental health referrals.
•Bilingual Communication: Conduct interviews in both English and Spanish, using translation services for additional languages as needed.
•Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Clinical Nurse Abstractor and the Child Fatality Review Program Manager to prioritize cases for informant interviews and incorporate the informant interview narratives into the final case summaries.
•Confidentiality & Compliance: Maintain strict confidentiality of all informant and case information; adhere to all program protocols and HIPAA guidelines.

•Expertise in conducting informant interviews, specifically grief-related interviews
•Deep understanding of trauma-informed care and empathetic communication
•Cultural humility and sensitivity in engaging with diverse communities
•Familiarity with maternal and child health, social determinants of health, medical terminology, and healthcare systems.
•Proficient in documentation, digital communication, and secure data handling
•Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent team communication
Experience:
Demonstrated experience in trauma-sensitive interviewing or support roles involving grief, maternal health, or social services.
Technical Requirements: Access to reliable internet and secure communication tools.
