Job Title: Fast and Fresh Clerk

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Operates cash register accurately, scans products, and maintains store cleanliness, product quality, and supply needs.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness, Home, and Department Managers. No positions report to you.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Exhibit caring and patience in customer interactions, making them feel valued.
• Greet customers warmly and learn their names when possible.
• Assist customers with products, loading, suggestions, and enhancing their shopping experience.
• Operate cash register, redeem coupons, handle transactions, and provide receipts.
• Package merchandise and assist with inventory and stock replenishment.
• Maintain store cleanliness, including sanitation, trash removal, and exterior upkeep.
• Follow personal hygiene, dress code, and store policies; report to work on time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Order merchandise and supplies as needed.
• Price products for customers.
• Perform other duties and projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Arithmetic skills involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to file, post, mail, copy data, interview, guide, and provide basic directions.

Education and Experience

No formal education or experience required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual acuity from less than 20 inches to over 20 feet, with or without correction.
• Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Exposure to temperature extremes, dampness, equipment hazards, electrical shocks, and chemicals in a fast-paced environment.

Telephone, fax, copier, pallet jacks, garbage disposal, trash compactor, box cutter, knives, computer, calculator, frozen juice machine, coffee maker, cash register, gas pumps.
