General Function

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Operates cash register accurately, scans products, and maintains store cleanliness and supply needs.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Manager of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Fast and Fresh Department Manager, Assistant Fast and Fresh Department Manager. No positions report to you.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, friendly customer service, engaging with customers and assisting with their needs.
• Greets customers and makes efforts to learn and use their names.
• Assists customers in finding products, handling heavy items, and passing along suggestions or requests.
• Operates cash register, processes transactions, and issues receipts.
• Prepares merchandise for customers, stocks shelves, and manages inventory.
• Maintains cleanliness of the store, including restrooms, break rooms, and work areas.
• Adheres to company policies on personal hygiene and dress, and reports to work on time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Orders merchandise and supplies as needed.
• Prices products for customers.
• Performs other duties and projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Arithmetic skills involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to file, post, mail, and guide people.

Education and Experience

No formal education or experience required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual and physical activities including climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, and walking.

Working Conditions

Exposure to temperature extremes, dampness, equipment hazards, and cleaning chemicals in a fast-paced environment.

Telephone, copier, pallet jacks, cash register, gas pumps, and more.

Daily contact with customers, co-workers, and vendors.
