Job summary

Fourth Floor is seeking a dependable temporary Designer in Los Angeles for a hybrid role. You will conceptualize and guide young contemporary collections, create CADs and tech packs, select materials, and collaborate with pattern makers to ensure fit and quality.

You will stay on trend through market research and work closely with merchandising and sales to align designs with market needs, ensuring sustainability and cost targets are met.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a fashion designer with a focus on young contemporary pieces.
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for design work.
• Strong understanding of fabrics, textiles, and garment construction.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Our client, a leading fashion design and manufacturing company, is looking for a dependable temporary Designer specializing in young contemporary garments to join their Los Angeles team on a hybrid basis!

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and design seasonal collections based on current trends / brand identity.
• Create sketches in Adobe Illustrator, technical drawings, and digital renderings of designs (CAD) and detailed tech packs for production teams.
• Select fabrics, materials, color palettes, trims, and finishes suitable for garments for each collection.
• Collaborate with pattern makers and product development teams to ensure fit and construction accuracy.
• Conduct market research to stay ahead of trends and consumer preferences.
• Attend fittings and ensure quality standards are met. Must be able to adjust designs as needed and oversee sample development.
• Work closely with merchandising and sales teams to align designs with market needs.
• Ensure all designs meet brand quality, sustainability, and cost requirements.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a fashion designer with an eye for young contemporary pieces.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Strong understanding of fabrics, textiles, and garment construction.
