Job summary

Crosscut, Limited is seeking a team member to support the Farrowing Department Supervisor in meeting production targets. Responsibilities include room prep, ensuring all farrowings are attended, and maintaining a safe environment for sows and piglets.

You will assist with cross fostering, nurse sow movements, and timely piglet processing and treatments. Strong communication and animal-care ethics are essential, with a high school diploma or GED and an agricultural/technical associate degree

Qualifications

• Environmental requirements of females and piglets.
• Ability to communicate well with other farrowing department personnel.
• Respect and care for all animals and personnel.
• High school diploma or GED required with Associate degree from agricultural or technical school with a major in animal production desired.

Responsibilities

• Room preparation prior to females farrowing
• Ensure all farrowings are attended
• Maintain correct environment for sows and piglets
• Cross foster piglets when necessary
• Nurse sow movements
• Ensure fresh feed is available for all animals
• Ensure adequate water flow is available
• Ensure proper and timely piglet processing
• Ensure proper and timely sow and piglet treatments and vaccinations.
• Weaning of piglets as instructed

Objective

Support Farrowing Department Supervisor to achieve production targets.

Responsibilities:

• Effective communication with all personnel in farrowing department to ensure a safe, enjoyable and productive department.
• Provide input to supervisor for ideas to maintain or increase productivity.

Production Responsibilities

• Room preparation prior to females farrowing
• Ensure all farrowings are attended
• Maintain correct environment for sows and piglets
• Cross foster piglets when necessary
• Nurse sow movements
• Ensure fresh feed is available for all animals
• Ensure adequate water flow is available
• Ensure proper and timely piglet processing
• Ensure proper and timely sow and piglet treatments and vaccinations.
• Weaning of piglets as instructed

Facility Responsibilities

• Maintain proper bio-security in farrowing department
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Ensure sow cards are timely and accurately completed
• Follow all production protocols and procedures

Experience/RequirementsResponsibilities:
