Job summary

A local agricultural farm is seeking a Farm Supervisor to oversee crop-related tasks, including pruning, planting, and grading. Responsibilities include supervising and training workers, maintaining equipment, and ensuring efficient operation of farming activities. Responsibilities

  • Plan/schedule work crews, equipment, or transportation for worksite(s).
  • Load agricultural products into trucks and drive to market or storage facilities.
  • Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting.
  • Direct processing of crops including grading and cider pressing.

Job description

Overview

This is a Temporary Position. Dates of employment are 4/10/2026 to 1/10/2027. To apply: email your resume to nathaniel@soleburyorchards.com and reference the job posting number on your resume/application.

Agricultural crops/commodities include apples, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, pears, plums, nectarines, cherries, apricots, tomatoes, flowers.

Supervise, Train, And Assist Employees In The Following Tasks
  • Pruning - use hand saw and loppers to cut off branches.
  • Planting - use shovel to dig holes large enough to accommodate tree roots, back fill with soil, firm soil around tree.
  • Thinning - use hands to remove excess fruit from branches.
  • Weeding - use hands to pull weeds in berry rows, lay weeds to side of row.
  • Picking berries - use hands to pick ripe blueberries/blackberries from bushes, place berries in 30 pound bucket, carry bucket (about 500 feet) to barn, weigh bucket, pour into 30 pound flats, put flats in cold storage in barn.
  • Picking peaches and apples - hand pick ripe fruit, put in 40 pound picking bag, dump bag in bins located in orchard.
  • Grading - remove culls and put in 40 pound discard boxes, put good fruit in 40 pound boxes, put boxes on pallets.
  • Processing - press apples into apple cider.
  • Tractor and Forklift operation

More broadly, the duties the farm supervisor will perform are as follows:

  • Assign work tasks, issue equipment, and communicate to coordinate overall work
  • Monitor crop progress and report status to farmer or farm manager
  • Provide training to workers on crop/farming techniques
  • Maintain irrigation equipment
  • Record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs
  • Maintain inventory/order materials as required by farmer or farm manager
  • Plan/schedule work crews, equipment, or transportation for worksite(s)
  • Drivers license required
  • Repair and maintain farm vehicles, equipment, fences, and other structures.
  • Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities.
  • Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting.
  • Direct processing of crops including grading and cider pressing.
  • Maintain cold room storage crop inventory inventory
  • Operate and maintain agricultural equipment including tractors, forklifts, tractor-drawn machinery. Worker may attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, and harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools. Worker may load containers and products using forklifts
Driving/Truck Details
  • Use 14000 GVWR straight truck to transport crops between storage facilities or to local market(s).
  • Use 37000 GVWR straight truck to transport crops between additional orchard property (2820 Creamery Rd) and main property with storage facility (3325 Creamery Rd).
