H2ajobs is seeking workers for a livestock operation in Texas. The role covers driving vehicles and equipment, monitoring animal health and weight gain, and moving animals between grazing areas and facilities.

The job includes upkeep of equipment, facilities, and fencing, plus preparing feeds and medications as prescribed. Housing is provided, meals and basic kitchen facilities are included, and transportation assistance to town is available.

Responsabilités

• Set up or remove temporary electric fences.

Description du poste

We run stocker calves on wheat pasture. These animals usually arrive at the farm sometime in November, and they leave the farm in March. The animals generally weigh 400-500 pounds when they arrive and 750 -850 pounds when they leave. We fatten the livestock on wheat pastures and only do this once per year. We do not have animals on the farm the rest of the year.

Job duties will include:

• drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals
• examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease
• and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain, feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies
• herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures
• inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences
• mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions
• shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food
• care for animals
• clean equipment or facilities
• Building and/or removing temporary electric fences.

Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: The employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities and space for food preparation, as well as the necessary equipment, appliances (including refrigeration),cooking accessories, and dish washing facilities (e.g., adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure) that are in working condition and will be used by workers to sufficiently prepare three (3) meals a day. Employer will offer free transportation to town for personal services (i.e. banking, groceries) at least once per week for non range workers.

Transport: The employer will pay the worker for reasonable costs incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad to the place of employment (inbound/outbound). The employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved.
