Job summary

H2ajobs seeks a reliable farmhand to maintain and operate winter feeding equipment and assist with calving season. You will help inspect livestock health, move cattle for feeding, and ensure access and shelter during harsh weather.

The role requires physical stamina, the ability to lift 75 lbs for 75 yards, and tolerance for extended work in cold conditions. Housing and meals are provided.

• Ability to work extended periods in extreme cold weather.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate snow removal and feed equipment during winter months.
• Inspect cows and calves for weather-related injuries and health during calving season.
• Move and load cattle for feeding and for shipment to market as needed.
• Clear snow from yards and barns; maintain heated water systems.
• Restore and maintain heated barn areas so equipment remains operable in cold conditions.

Job description

Job Duties

Maintaining and operating snow removal and feed equipment used in winter months and during winter calving season. Examining animals to detect weather related injuries and ensuring the health of cows and calves during calving. Cleaning snow off of cattle feeding grounds, unloading and moving cattle for feeding and protection from winter weather, loading cattle for shipment to market. Clearing snow from yards and barn. Maintaining heated water systems. Removing ice from water. Maintaining heated section of barns so that equipment is operational during coldest weather. Minimum of one (1) month of farm experience. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs for 75 yards. Ability to work for an extended period of time in extreme cold weather conditions.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals

Meals: The employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers may prepare their own meals. Employer will provide (on a voluntary basis) transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries and/or other incidentals.

If free and convenient kitchen facilities become unavailable for any reason, the employer will provide three (3) meals a day for which it will charge individual workers, by payroll deduction, no more than the daily permitted amount as provided in 20 CFR 655.173, which was $16.78 as of April 7, 2026, and which may be increased during the period of this employment.

Transport

Transport: Employer will either arrange for inbound and outbound transportation via a charter bus service for the worker, or if the worker prefers to arrange their own transportation, Employer will reimburse the worker at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved as well as for the related daily subsistence costs while the worker is traveling.
