Job summary

Evergen is seeking a Farm Technician in Glencoe, MN to support the Farm Systems Manager. Responsibilities include transporting pigs within the farm system, coordinating pig flow, inputs, and maintenance, and ensuring compliance with HACCP and USDA guidelines.

The role involves working with QA and external suppliers, and supporting animal care tasks as needed. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, with a 2-year Agriculture degree preferred, and hands-on hog production

Qualifications

• 2-year degree in agriculture preferred.
• Experience in hog production required; hog operation management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliveries of pigs within farm system and with 3rd party pig suppliers.
• Coordinate pig flow and inventories across multiple sites.
• Coordinate inputs of feed, medications, and supplies.
• Oversee biosecurity practices across the farm system.
• Transport animals within the farm system.
• Identify process improvements within the farm system operations.
• Coordinate general maintenance on buildings, equipment and vehicles.
• Work with QA on compliance to standards and audits.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Follow GMP and sanitation practices during maintenance.

Pay Rate:$20 per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, shift starts between 3am-5am, dependent on the delivers scheduled each day. Depending on workload, shifts on Monday/Tuesday may be longer than 8 hours, resulting in a reduced scheduled on Friday.

The Farm Technician is responsible for assisting the Farm Systems Manager in operating the Evergen farm system. This includes transporting pigs within the Evergen farm system, cleaning vehicles and trailers used for our farm system, and performing other tasks as directed by management as needed for operating the Evergen farm system.

Key Responsibilities –

• Deliveries of pigs within farm system and also with 3 rd party pig suppliers
• Coordinate pig flow and inventories across multiple sites
• Coordinate inputs of the farm system including feed, medications, and supplies
• Oversee and ensure compliance with biosecurity practices across the farm system
• Transport animals within the farm system
• Identify process improvements within the farm system operations
• Coordinate general maintenance on buildings, equipment and vehicles
• Work closely with Quality Assurance on compliance to standards, internal and external audits
• Ensure compliance with HAACP Plan, USDA guidelines, Humane Handling Procedure and Evergen procedures and report any non-compliance to management
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Follow GMP and sanitation practices when maintaining and cleaning buildings, equipment and vehicles
• Take on additional responsibilities as directed by management
• Assist with administrative duties as directed by management
• Perform required tasks associated with hog production within the Evergen system such as choring, vaccinating, and general animal care
• Interact professionally with team members and external suppliers

Requirements:

Education –

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 2-year degree in Agriculture related major, preferred

Experience –

• Experience in hands-on tasks involved in hog production, required
• Experience in the management of a hog operation, preferred
• Knowledge of wean-finish hog production and industry standards

Required Skills –

• Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and efficiency are key components.
• Ability to ensure compliance to quality and regulatory requirements
• Willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed
• Expertise in pig production environment

Other Requirements –

• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 70 lbs
• Proficiency in English
