Job summary

Wingate University invites applications for a full-time Farm Manager position beginning January 2027 to oversee the Research and Education Farm, provide hands-on learning experiences for undergraduates, and teach courses in Agricultural Food Systems.

The successful candidate will support agricultural research, community engagement, and collaborate with faculty and partners to grow the program in a cooperative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• M.S. in Agriculture, Horticulture, Biology, or related field.
• Teaching experience is preferred.
• At least 2 years of farm management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance, safety, and development of the Wingate University Research and Education Farm.
• Develop and facilitate hands-on learning experiences at the Farm.
• Develop and maintain farm management plans, production schedules, SOPs, safety protocols, and records.
• Train and mentor student employees and others in farm safety, operation, and practices.
• Develop relationships with agricultural producers, Extension, industry professionals, and partners to enhance student learning and engagement.
• Teach undergraduate courses in Agricultural Food Systems, agriculture, and agroecology (including lectures, labs, field-based and experiential components).
• Collaborate with faculty and community partners to advance the program's mission.
