Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. located in LeSueur, Minnesota, is seeking a maintenance-focused position to operate and service manure removal equipment across our farm sites. You will contribute to safe, efficient daily operations and ensure animal welfare throughout the workflow.

The role requires basic math and communication skills, with attention to safety standards and GMP compliance. Training is provided; applicants should be comfortable with hands-on tasks and on-site work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain positive work atmosphere by communicating with customers, co-workers and management
• Follow production scheduling and attendance guidelines
• Perform preventative maintenance on manure removal equipment and cages
• Assist drivers and House People with maintenance issues
• May install new manure removal system including basic fabrication
• Move and relocate birds in cages while observing density guidelines
• Repair/replaced manure belts using bonding methods
• Clean manure belts, pits and sheds regularly
• Repair flooring and guardrails for safety
• Use lock out tag-out devices when working on equipment
• Adhere to GMPs and sanitary conditions to ensure product quality and safety
• Minimize loss and maximize egg quality within scope
• Perform House Person duties as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Location Description

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: Maintains and operates manure removal equipment on farms by performing the following duties:

• Maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
• Works on scheduled days as directed in relation to production scheduling and or time volunteered for. This being in relation to attendance policy and/or guidelines.
• Conducts preventative maintenance on all manure removal equipment and/or individual cages as needed and/or directed.
• Assist drivers and/or House People with maintenance issues as needed and/or directed.
• May install new manure removal system as needed. This includes at times some fabrication work and use of welders, acetylene torches, various power tools and/or fabrication equipment.
• Moves and/or relocated loose birds in cages as needed to conduct repair work, returning them to their original cage location and/or a new one while observing bird density guidelines. (AWB).
• Repairs and replaces manure belts as needed using sonic welder, or other bonding application as directed.
• Regularly cleans all manure belts, pits, and sheds as needed not allowing excessive build-up of manure.
• Repairs all flooring and guardrails in and around all manure handling equipment to ensure safety standards are met.
• Regularly uses lock out tag-out devices when working on manure removal equipment to ensure accidents and/or equipment damage does not occur.
• Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
• Responsible for minimizing loss and maximizing eqq quality within scope of position.
• Performs House Person duties as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED: None required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
• One- or three-months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• Ability to reach and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving troubleshooting.

The pay range for this position is $19.89 to $24.99 per hour.
