Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. in LeSueur, MN is hiring a Farm Equipment Operator to maintain and operate manure removal systems on farms.

You will perform preventative maintenance, assist drivers, and help with system installations while following safety guidelines and GMPs to protect food safety and worker well-being. This role requires a high school diploma or GED and ability to follow simple instructions, perform basic arithmetic, and communicate effectively in small group settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent.
• 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to follow simple instructions, memos, and brief communications.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add/subtract two-digit numbers).
• Ability to apply common sense and follow oral instructions.
• Willingness to troubleshoot and resolve problems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating with customers, co-workers, and management.
• Work on scheduled days related to production planning and attendance policies.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on manure removal equipment and cages as directed.
• Assist drivers and House People with maintenance issues as needed.
• May install new manure removal system; may involve fabrication and welding.
• Move and relocate birds in cages while observing density guidelines.
• Repair or replace manure belts using appropriate bonding methods.
• Clean manure belts, pits, and sheds to prevent buildup.
• Repair flooring and guardrails around manure handling equipment for safety.
• Use lockout/tagout devices when working on equipment to prevent accidents.
• Adhere to safe work practices, GMPs, and sanitary conditions to protect food safety and personnel safety.
• Minimize loss and maximize egg quality within scope of position.
• Perform House Person duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintains and operates manure removal equipment on farms by performing the following duties:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
• Works on scheduled days as directed in relation to production scheduling and or time volunteered for. This being in relation to attendance policy and/or guidelines.
• Conducts preventative maintenance on all manure removal equipment and/or individual cages as needed and/or directed.
• Assist drivers and/or House People with maintenance issues as needed and/or directed.
• May install new manure removal system as needed. This includes at times some fabrication work and use of welders, acetylene torches, various power tools and/or fabrication equipment.
• Moves and/or relocated loose birds in cages as needed to conduct repair work, returning them to their original cage location and/or a new one while observing bird density guidelines. (AWB).
• Repairs and replaces manure belts as needed using sonic welder, or other bonding application as directed.
• Regularly cleans all manure belts, pits, and sheds as needed not allowing excessive build-up of manure.
• Repairs all flooring and guardrails in and around all manure handling equipment to ensure safety standards are met.
• Regularly uses lock out tag-out devices when working on manure removal equipment to ensure accidents and/or equipment damage does not occur.
• Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
• Responsible for minimizing loss and maximizing eqq quality within scope of position.
• Performs House Person duties as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED

• None required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
• One- or three-months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• Ability to reach and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving troubleshooting.

The pay range for this position is $19.89 to $24.99 per hour.
