Job summary

H2ajobs is seeking an on-site Farm Equipment Technician to reassemble, repair, and overhaul various farm machinery including tractors and irrigation systems. You will read inspection reports, diagnose malfunctions, and document repairs and parts used.

Duties include on-site repair, tool use, and occasional overtime for extended workloads. Applicants should have at least 3 months of relevant experience, be 18 or older, and possess a valid US driver’s license with a clean MVR.

Job description

Duties may include: Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments, as necessary. Maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems. Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, locate and diagnose malfunctions. Record details of repairs made and parts used. Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools. Clean and lubricate parts. Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders, or saws. Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools. Tune or overhaul engines. Drive trucks to haul tools and equipment for on-site repair of large machinery. Fabricate new metal parts, using drill presses, engine lathes, and other machine tools. Repair bent or torn sheet metal. Calculate bills according to record of repairs made, labor time, and parts used. Install and repair agricultural irrigation, plumbing, and sprinkler systems & other related Farm Equipment Tech activities as per SOC/OES 49-3041 (onetonline.org).

Possible weekend/holiday work.

The employer may choose to pay experienced workers, regardless of origin, more than the published minimum wage rate. See attached Addendum C.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: The employer will furnish cooking facilities, utilities, and utensils for workers to prepare their own meals in the housing provided kitchen. Included basic appliances will consist of, but is not limited to, refrigerator, stove/oven, and sink with hot and cold-water connections. All appliances included will be in good, working condition for the workers. Employer will provide transportation to grocery store at least once a week for workers who wish to shop for food.

Transport: The employer will provide or pay for charter bus services or other modes of transportation to H-2A or U.S. workers, or permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved in traveling (a) to the place of employment from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer (i.e., inbound) and (b) from the pl... Must be 18 years of age. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone.
