Job summary

H2ajobs in Montana seeks a farm equipment mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain grain handling equipment and related machinery. You will dismantle, repair, reassemble, and test engines, electrical systems, and components to ensure optimal performance.

Responsibilities include cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance, with potential weekend/holiday work. Housing and meals are provided; other terms described in Addendum C.

Qualifications

• 2 months experience in farm equipment maintenance.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Grain cleaning and snow removal.
• Inspect equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions.
• Dismantle defective machines for repair and reassemble after maintenance.
• Repair or replace defective parts; test operation and adjust engines and electrical components.
• Test and tune mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Provide housing and meals as described in the Addendum C.

Job description

Duties may include: Duties include but are not limited to the following: Grain cleaning and snow removal. Examine

equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions. Dismantle defective machines for repair. Repair or replace defective parts. Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments, as necessary. Clean and lubricate parts. Test and replace electrical components. Tune or overhaul engines. Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance. Test mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning & other related Farm Equipment Mechanic activities as per SOC/OES 49-3041 (onetonline.org).

Possible weekend/holiday work.

The employer may choose to pay experienced workers, regardless of origin, more than the published minimum wage rate. See attached Addendum C.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Depending on housing location, worker may have a kitchen available for use. In that case, The employer will furnish cooking facilities, utilities, and utensils for workers to prepare their own meals in the housing provided kitchen. Included basic appliances will consist of, but is not limited to, refrigerator, stove/oven, and sink with hot and cold-water connections. All appliances included will be in good, working condition for the workers. Employer will provide transportation to grocery store at least once a week for workers who wish to shop for food. Otherwise, 3 meals per day will be provided to those workers who do not have access to free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities (all workers who are residing in public accommodations). All meals will include a daily source of protein, vitamins, and minerals.

Transport: The employer will provide or pay for charter bus services or other modes of transportation to H-2A or U.S. workers, or permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved in traveling (a) to the place of employment from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer (i.e., inbound) and (b) from the pl...
