This position is a "grant funded" position, therefore unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

Work Hours
7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Evenings and weekends may be required based on business needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Follows social service program requirements pertaining to families; supports and monitors families' efforts to complete their self-identified goals; and performs timely completion of all case management requirements.
- Provides families with appropriate community resources and linkages and assists families in crisis in areas such as food, housing, clothing, and transportation. Implements the relevant social service program framework components necessary to successfully support families.
- May make home visits as needed.
- Provides case management to families in social service programs.
- Assists in offering families opportunities to be involved in group activities such as parent advisory groups, policy groups, and educational activities based on interest and need.
- Provides opportunities for children and families to participate in family educational programs and for parents to participate in the development of the programs' educational curriculum.
- Provides engagement and educational activities that meet the on-going and expressed needs of families.
- Provides support with Health and Oral Health requirements and ensures timely follow-up to complete necessary compliance requirements.
- Collaborates with program staff to provide opportunities to families, including child growth and development, parenting skills, child abuse prevention, guidance and discipline, medical, dental, nutritional, and mental health, disabilities, family literacy, and community advocacy.
- Assists families through the transition within the social services program.
- May participate in recruitment activities for social service programs and help with the enrollment process, including completing the required forms.
- Participates in application events which may involve occasional evening and weekend hours.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
- Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification required or must obtain Pediatric CPR; and First Aid Certification within first 60 days in position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field.
- Two (2) years' experience in social work, family support, or related field.
- A parent of a current or former participant in a Head Start program.
- Fluent in English/Spanish.
Applicant Information
- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
