Job summary

Children & Families of Iowa is seeking a Family Support Worker in Denison, Iowa. You will assist families facing trauma by providing transportation, facilitating supervised family interactions, and delivering crisis intervention and support services to promote safety and healing.

Collaborating with parents, children, foster families, and professionals, you will help families stay connected and work toward a healthier future, while documenting cases accurately and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of experience in human services with children or dependent adults preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and handle emergencies and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation for families and children as needed.
  • Facilitate and supervise family interactions.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support services.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings between families and team members.
  • Complete accurate and timely case documentation.

In this role, you’ll support families experiencing trauma or life challenges by providing guidance, transportation, and supervised family interactions. You’ll collaborate with parents, children, foster families, and other professionals who share a commitment to keeping families safe, supported, and connected.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Family Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide transportation for families and children as needed
  • Facilitate and supervise family interactions
  • Provide crisis intervention and support services
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings between families and FCS team members
  • Complete accurate and timely case documentation
  • Collaborate with a team dedicated to supporting and strengthening families

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in human services working with children and/or dependent adults
Preferred qualifications, but not required:
  • Associate degree with at least six months of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work independently, respond to emergencies, and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable internet access or ability to work from an office location
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Auto insurance with liability coverage and a safe driving record
