Children’s Home Association of Illinois (CHAIL) in Peoria, IL invites applications for a Family Support Specialist. The role delivers home-based services to families with young children, focusing on baby development, parenting support, and connecting families with local resources.

The schedule spans full-time hours with possible evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and 1–2 years of experience with families and children, plus the ability to travel to client

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 1–2 years' experience working with families with young children.
• Knowledge of infant and child development.
• Ability to transport self and clients to various locations.

Responsibilities

• Engage pregnant women and new mothers, build on parenting strengths, and use motivational interviewing to maintain program engagement.
• Maintain a caseload of 15–20 high risk/high needs prenatal women or mothers with children 0–3, conduct needs assessments, provide early child development curriculum, and administer developmental and depression screenings.
• Ensure visits provide client-centered, strengths-based information on bonding, parenting, health, and safe home environment.
• Develop trusting relationships and assist families in setting and attaining goals.
• Refer clients to community services and help schedule health and human service appointments.
• Complete assessments, documentation, and maintain client records per guidelines.
• Use reflective practice to continually improve service delivery.
