Position Details

Title: Family Support Specialist II

Report To: Senior Project Manager

Organization Background: USI is a national nonprofit with extensive experience in community development and human capital strategies, supporting over 30,000 families across 53 communities. We are dedicated to stability and thriving for children and families through results-based, data-driven, and equity-centered approaches.

Job Summary

The Family Support Specialist II provides case management, referrals, and coordination of services to promote economic self-sufficiency, improve quality of life for seniors and individuals with disabilities, and increase opportunities for residents under HUD programs. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake assessments, enroll residents, and gather information at various locations.
  • Develop and monitor Development Plans with families, facilitate access to social services, and advocate for up to 100 individuals.
  • Maintain privacy, track data in USI's "LEARN" system, and participate in community meetings.
  • Occasional evening/weekend work, travel up to 25%, and perform administrative duties.
  • Assist clients in accessing capital, loans, credit building, debt reduction, and entrepreneurship support.
  • Provide financial management and goal-setting consultations.
  • Host seminars (in-person and virtual) on financial literacy and resource access.
  • Support development of USI CDFI client base.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of case management experience with low-income households; health services experience a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Commitment to strengths-based, family-focused services and confidentiality.
  • Proactive, independent work ethic with team collaboration skills.
  • Availability for evening/weekend activities.
  • Strong communication skills for diverse communities.
  • Effective prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
