Family Support Specialist (Family Connections)

Our services have expanded to support children, adults, and families across multiple states, including residential care, day programs, employment assistance, managed care, and home and community-based services. We are hiring part-time Family Support Specialists for Maricopa County East Valley. This remote position involves occasional in-office work at our Mesa, AZ location and delivers the Family Connections and Nurturing Parenting Programs using evidence-based models, along with in-home case management and support services tailored to family needs identified by the Arizona Department of Child Services (ADCS). The goal is to enhance protective capacities within the home to stabilize and preserve the environment through behavioral change by parents/caregivers, aligned with RISE’s mission, vision, and values, and compliant with all regulations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide short-term, coordinated services and resources to families, focusing on strengthening protective factors as outlined by ADCS.
  • Meet with families regularly (weekly, monthly) to address concerns and provide guidance using evidence-based curricula and community resources, including topics like nutrition, home management, communication, child development, and safe sleep.
  • Work collaboratively with the Team Lead to support families in achieving positive outcomes.
  • Ensure timely completion of documentation, including weekly progress notes and other tasks.
  • Be flexible to meet family needs, including evenings and weekends, and handle emergency calls when required. Extensive travel within the county or metro area is expected.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience working with families.
  • Experience or education related to family dynamics, cultural diversity, child abuse prevention, and knowledge of child development and Department of Child Safety regulations.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including listening, assessment, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed, including occasional evenings.
  • Clear background check, Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, and valid Arizona driver’s license with insurance.
  • Reliable transportation passing vehicle inspections.
