Job summary

Samaritas is seeking a Family Support Specialist to assist families navigating challenging life situations in Westland, MI. You will provide direct care, support daily living activities, and help connect residents to community resources.

• Training or coursework in Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in direct care, residential services, or community-based programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct Care & Resident Support: Assist families with daily living activities based on individual service plans; support residents with hygiene, meals, and maintaining a safe, clean-living space; prepare rooms for new residents and help maintain a welcoming environment.
• Monitoring & Safety: Observe and document resident behavior and daily activity; respond to and help de-escalate challenging situations; report incidents and concerns to leadership in a timely manner.
• Medication & Documentation: Assist with medication administration in accordance with policies; maintain accurate documentation of services, activities, and observations.
• Intake & Resource Support: Assist with intake processes, including phone and walk-in inquiries; connect individuals to community resources and support services.
• Housekeeping & Facility Support: Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning resident rooms and shared spaces; support kitchen operations, including meal prep and cleanup.
• Team Support: Serve as a mentor to new staff and assist with onboarding and training; collaborate with team members to ensure quality care and program success.

Location: Westland, Michigan
Schedule: 3 pm - 11:30 pm ~ Every other weekend
Pay: $19.00 per hour

What You’ll Do

Additional Requirements
