Job summary

Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) is seeking a Family Support Specialist to provide parenting education, support, and advocacy through home visits to families with young children across Iowa. The role emphasizes connecting families to resources, promoting child health and development, and helping families design individualized support plans to reach their goals.

Most visits occur in the home, with ongoing contact by telephone in Black Hawk County.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in health or human service-related field or education.
• Required: Associates degree in health and human service-related field or education and 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide home visits to expectant parents and caregivers, offering parenting education, support, and advocacy.
• Link parents to resources, promote child health and development, and problem-solve with families.
• Design individualized support plans and empower families to achieve their goals.
• Meet with clients in the home and maintain contact via telephone in Black Hawk County.

What You'll Do

Want to make a difference in the life of children and families? Family Support Specialists (FSS) offer home visits to expectant parents and caregivers of small children, providing parenting education, support, and advocacy. Family Support Specialists link parents to resources, promote optimal child health and development, and problem solve with parents. Family needs and abilities are evaluated on an ongoing basis. Family Support Specialists assist families in designing individualized support plans and empower families overtime to achieve their chosen goals. Our home visitation program is part of a nationwide initiative designed to empower families to become and remain healthy and strong.

This position will primarily meet with clients in the home and maintain contact via telephone in Black Hawk County.

What You'll Need
