Job summary

Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) is seeking a Family Support Specialist to conduct home visits with expectant parents and caregivers of young children. The role focuses on parenting education, support, and advocacy, connecting families to resources, and promoting healthy development.

Home visits and phone contact are central to the job. Preferred candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in health or related fields; an Associate’s degree with relevant experience is required.

• Associate’s degree required in health and human services or education with 2 years of experience.

What You’ll Do

Family Support Specialists (FSS) offer home visits to expectant parents and caregivers of small children, providing parenting education, support, and advocacy. FSS link parents to resources, promote optimal child health and development, and problem solve with parents. Family needs and abilities are evaluated on an ongoing basis. FSS assist families in designing individualized support plans and empower families over time to achieve their chosen goals. Our home visitation program is part of a nationwide initiative designed to empower families to become and remain healthy and strong. This position will primarily meet with clients in the home and maintain contact via telephone.

What You’ll Need

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in health or human service-related field or education.

Required: Associate’s degree in health and human service-related field or education and 2 years of experience.
