Healthcare & Emergency Solutions is a boutique consulting firm specializing in culturally competent, equitable healthcare services for historically excluded communities. Our team of public health professionals and clinical experts manages state contracts and delivers services including: Behavior Aide (BA), Family/Children counseling, assessments, transportation, child supervision, and drug screening.

This opportunity is a 1099 Contractor role, allowing flexible scheduling, case selection, and potential for increased compensation based on services provided. We partner with professionals committed to developing their careers.

As a Family Support Counselor - Cobb County, you will support families through various challenges, providing counseling to children and families involved in the justice system, aiming to reduce child abuse and neglect. Responsibilities include psychosocial assessments, trauma-focused therapies, in-home support, and collaboration with social workers.

Family Support Counselor Responsibilities:

  1. Crisis Intervention and Support:
    • Provide crisis intervention for clients experiencing mental health crises.
    • Support clients and families during challenging times.
    • Conduct problem-solving sessions addressing domestic violence, trauma, anger management, grief, and discipline techniques.
    • Utilize therapeutic modalities like CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy.
    • Understand case management activities and conduct intensive in-home counseling.
    • Assist in preparing for child reunification and provide substance abuse education.
    • Help clients develop coping skills and achieve treatment goals.
  2. Treatment Planning and Collaboration:
    • Assist clients in identifying and securing resources for family independence.
    • Develop tailored treatment plans and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
    • Conduct assessments for clients referred by DFCS.
    • Create a therapeutic environment for family support and network therapy.
  3. Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in human services and 3 years of experience, or a Master’s level professional eligible for Georgia licensure.
    • Provisional Licensed or Associate Licensed Professional (LAMFT, LAPC, LMSW).
    • 1 year experience in diagnosis and treatment planning.
    • Preferred: Doctoral degree and licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT).
    • Experience working with children or adults, CDA certificate required.
    • Skills in MS Office, verbal and written communication, behavioral intervention, crisis intervention, and de-escalation.
    • Valid Georgia driver’s license, reliable transportation, and personal vehicle insurance.
    • Completion of required trainings by HCES.

This role covers services across multiple Georgia counties, including regions 1-5 as specified.
