Job summary

Penquis seeks a Family Support Coach to join the Child Development Team at Brewer Community School. The role is full-time, on-site in Brewer, Maine, with 36 hours per week across 42 weeks per year.

You will collaborate with families to identify needs, plan services, and support family wellbeing including safety, health, and economic stability. Responsibilities include intensive case management, family planning, and advocacy, with ongoing follow-up through visits and calls.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or related field.
• 1-2 years’ experience in a social service-based program with children and families.
• Experience with parenting challenges and knowledge of local resources for low-income families.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer proficiency including word processing.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive case management from intake to assessment and develop a family plan with the family.
• Follow up via calls, home and office visits, and record reviews.
• Regular check-ins to build positive, trusting relationships with families.
• Help families partner in their child’s development and set short/long-term goals.
• Advocate for clients as liaison with Penquis staff and community agencies.
• Develop and maintain community partnerships through committee work.
