JOB DESCRIPTION

To facilitate student comprehension and application of concepts skills and behaviors that contribute to the development of mature, able, and responsible members of society.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrate support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
  • Provide a rigorous curriculum that aligns with the Alabama Department of Education (ALSDE) and Career & Technical Education (CTE) Course of Study.
  • Sponsors a Career Technical Education Student Organization (CTSO) and participates in at least one program-related competition per year.
  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, school and agency counselors, and related service providers in the overall educational plan for students enrolled in the education setting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the individual education service and transition plan for students enrolled in the education setting.
  • Engages in professional growth & demonstrate professional ethics & leadership.
  • Use current technology for instruction and management purposes.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data, and interpret the laws, policies, and regulations pertaining to the work.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Family Studies and Community Services or a related area AND NOCTI - Early Childhood Education and Care OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Family Studies, Community Services, Family and Consumer Sciences, or a related area or Valid Alabama Class B or higher Professional Educator Certificate endorsed in Family and Consumer Sciences Education AND

One of the seven listed below is required:

  • Licensure Issued by Alabama State Board of Examiners in Social Work or Counseling (other than school counseling)
  • Certified Social Worker Case Manager (C-SWCM)
  • Certified Children, Youth, and Family Social Worker (C-CYFSW)
  • PHR -- Professional in Human Resources
  • CFCS: Certified in Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS)
  • CPFE: Certified in Personal and Family Finance Educator (AAFCS)
  • CFCS-HDFS: Certified in Human Development and Family Studies (AAFCS)

Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements within the designated timeframe.

Note: Employment experience gained in the private employment sector may be considered when filling specified positions, which are not traditionally in the education field, but include specialized training or certifications.
