Job summary

Spectrum Child and Family Services in Flint, MI is seeking a Family Skills Worker to deliver intensive services to children and families within the Family Skills Program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the human services field, e.g. sociology, psychology, social work, family development, Guidance & Counseling or Criminal Justice.
• One year of directly related service experience in parenting, child development or prevention services.
• Knowledge: strengths-based family work, solution-focused treatment, wrap around process, child development, child welfare laws.
• State licensing/clearance requirements: DHS Central Registry, ICHAT, Sex Offender Registry, State Police Check, TB test, physical exam.
• Reliable and ongoing transportation with valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance for home visits.

Responsibilities

• Under general direction of the Program Director, provide intensive, concrete services to children and families in the Family Skills Program.
• Coordinate delivery of services in compliance with state laws and program standards.
• Aim to increase the family's ability to function effectively in the community.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general direction of the Program Director, the Family Skills Worker provides needed and appropriate intensive, concrete services to children and their families involved in the Family Skills Program. The Family Skills Worker coordinates the delivery of services as required by State of Michigan Law and applicable service standards for the purpose of increasing h family's ability to function successfully in its community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in the human services field, i.e. Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Family ecology, consumer/community services, family and/or child development, Guidance and Counseling or Criminal Justice.
  
• Experience: One year of directly related service area of parenting, child development or prevention services
• Knowledge: strengths-based family work, solution focused treatment, wrap around process, child development, child welfare laws, community resources. Training in Bavolek Nurturing Parent Model preferred.
• Transportation: Reliable and ongoing as required to make home visits and provide transportation to youth and families, valid un-restricted driver's license, good driving record, proof of vehicle insurance coverage on vehicle used for transporting youth and families
• Other: State of Michigan Licensing Requirements: Satisfactory DHS Central Registry Clearance, ICHAT, National and State Sex Offender Registry check and State Police Record Check, negative TB Test, satisfactory physical exam.
