Job summary

City of Portsmouth is seeking a supervisory CPS administrator to lead the professional staff in the Child Protective Services unit. This role supervises casework practice, reviews service plans, and ensures compliance with applicable laws and agency policies.

The position reports to the Chief of Services or the Assistant Director and requires strong leadership, budgeting, and collaboration with other agencies. On-call and emergency response duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a human services field and 5–7 years of experience in Social Services or a related CPS unit.
• Master of Social Work (MSW) preferred and supervisory experience is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of policies, procedures, and confidentiality in casework.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day guidance to family services staff on case issues, policies, and agency initiatives.
• Plan caseloads, assign cases, review and sign off on service plans and reports.
• Supervise budgeting, staff development, and resource deployment.
• Prepare statistical reports and monitor program expenditures.
• Assist with Court preparation and review of complex cases.
