FurstStaffing seeks a Family Services Specialist to provide case management, parenting education, referrals, and community connections for families in the child welfare system. You will work with DCFS, community partners, and service providers to strengthen families.
Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Human Services, experience with families, strong communication and organizational skills, and bilingual abilities preferred.
Family Services Specialist supports families in the child welfare system by providing case management, parenting education, referrals, and community resource connections. The role works with families, the state department of child and family services, and community partners to strengthen family functioning and promote positive parenting. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.
Provide family-centered, strengths-based case management to families referred by DCFS, community partners, or self-referral.
Conduct assessments, develop individualized service plans, and monitor progress toward family goals.
Provide parenting education and support using approved curricula and evidence-based approaches.
Build trusting relationships with families while maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and respect.
Advocate for families and connect them with community resources and appropriate support services.
Coordinate with DCFS caseworkers and other professionals involved with families.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case documentation and required reports.
Process referrals, coordinate intake and enrollment, and provide timely follow-up.
Enter and maintain accurate participant and referral information in databases and tracking systems.
Support program quality assurance, data collection, outcome tracking, reporting, and continuous quality improvement.
Participate in community outreach, resource fairs, presentations, networking, and other activities that increase awareness of services.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, social service agencies, and referral partners.
Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field.
Relevant experience working with children and families, including case management, family support, parenting education, or other human services experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build effective, respectful, and confidential relationships with families and professionals.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
Basic to intermediate computer skills, including databases, electronic records, Microsoft Office, or similar programs.
Bilingual skills preferred.
Valid Illinois driver's license and vehicle insurance, with the ability to travel throughout the service area for home visits and community activities.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
