Family Service Worker (Wisner-Pilger Public Schools Preschool)

LOCATION: WISNER, NE

JOB TYPE: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with seasonal layoff.

ABOUT US: Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership (NENCAP), INC is a private, nonprofit
corporation. NENCAP serves an income-eligible population in a 14-county area of Northeast Nebraska with
programs such as Head Start, Early Head Start, WIC/Immunizations, Healthy Families, Weatherization, and
Family Services, free tax preparation, car seat programs, Veteran Services, Commodity Supplemental Food
Program, and food pantries.

JOB SUMMARY: The Family Service Worker is responsible for recruitment of children and families into the
Head Start Program, documenting all action taken pertaining to outreach and continuous recruiting, ensuring
the classroom is fully enrolled at all times. Accurately enter data into ChildPlus record keeping system. Assist
families in enrolling in a system of on-going health care, required screenings, exams, necessary referrals, and
follow-ups and be a referral source for parents. Maintain a Parent Corner and provide parent resources, as
needed. Complete Home Visits and Parent/Teacher Conferences with each family. Complete Family
Partnership Agreement for each family and assist with goal setting. Be available to all over-income families on
an as-needed basis. Facilitate parent engagement activities and parent committees according to program
requirements. Maintain and organize accurate family records. Assist Teachers in recruiting and training
volunteers as needed. Assist in the classroom when needed. Occasional kneeling, stooping, bending, and
lifting up to 50 pounds. Maintain confidentiality of program participants and follow Program and Agency
standards and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred in social work, human
services, family services, counseling, or a related field. Six months to 1-year related experience
preferred.
• If High School Diploma or GED only – must also acquire within 18 months of hire, at a minimum, a
credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field.

WAGE & BENEFITS: The starting wage is $20.00 per hour, plus benefits. The wage will increase with
education. Benefits include health, life, dental and vision insurance. NENCAP covers the premium for our
