Description
Summary of Responsibilities

This position coordinates, plans and delivers comprehensive family support services through the development of the Family Partnership Agreement serving as a member of the classroom-based team to provide the services/support needed by enrolled children and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the children’s family file and the Head Start Electronic Tracking database
  • Promote comprehensive wellness of Early Head Start children/families through services including: screenings, referrals, nutrition workshops and training opportunities
  • Coordinate home visit and parent teacher conference with enrolled families with classroom teaching staff
  • Coordinate with teachers/case managers to ensure up-to date immunizations and well-child exams are completed for enrolled children
  • Develop Family Partnership Agreements at the beginning of the enrollment year with each family enrolled and document outcomes of each goal set
  • Serve as a resource for teachers and parents in regards to community resources and services available
  • Actively recruit families to ensure enrollment numbers are meet in all aspects of the program
  • Enlist and train parents as volunteer for center events and track volunteer hours at the center level
  • Coordinate the monthly Parent Meeting
  • Serve as a Certified Partners for Healthy Baby Home Visiting Curriculum (PHBHV) instructor and ensure compliance with grant requirements
  • Complete personal visits with the expectant families enrolled in the program
  • Develop partnerships and serve as an advocate with tribal community agencies that provide services to expectant families, infants, toddlers and children.
  • Serve as case manager for enrolled Expecting Families
  • Communicate with families in a friendly and effective manner
  • Reporting any suspected Child Abuse and Neglect in accordance with State, Tribal and Federal laws.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all information regarding families, co-workers and self in accordance with the Early Childhood departmental confidentiality policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Minimum educational requirement of an LPN license or Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Services.
  • Experience working with families on goal setting, general case management and health related services preferred
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of culturally diverse populations and their needs
  • Keyboarding skills, computer literacy and familiarity with various applications such a database, word processing, email and internet
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED certification and Food Handler’s Card
  • Ability to respond appropriately (both mentally and physically) to an emergency or a crisis situation
  • Daily kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend the children’s needs.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
Certifications
  • Valid Driver’s License and Insurance
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 6 months of employment.
Conditions of Employment
  • Successful completion of applicable tribal drug test.
  • Successful completion of applicable tribal background check.
  • Must pass background investigation for suitability of character identified in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations.
