Position Overview
The Family Services Lead serves as an experienced member of the Family Services team within a federally contracted ICE Short-Term Residential Facility. This position functions as a lead resource for Family Services Staff and supports the consistent delivery of safe, structured, and supportive services for residents and families.
The Family Services Lead assists with coordinating daily activities, supporting team communication, providing guidance on established procedures, and promoting consistency in resident care and program operations. Working closely with Family Services Staff and facility leadership, this position helps ensure services are delivered in accordance with federal contract requirements, facility policies, trauma-informed care principles, and established safety standards.
The population served may include family units with minor children, pregnant women, adult residents, and other individuals representing diverse cultural, linguistic, and national backgrounds.
The Family Services Lead helps foster a safe, structured, and supportive environment for children and families by serving as a point of contact for operational questions, assisting with daily service coordination, and supporting resident activities throughout the facility. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, 24-hour residential environment.
The Family Services Lead provides shift-level operational coordination, peer guidance, and support to Family Services Staff. This is a non-supervisory lead position and does not include responsibility for employee performance management, disciplinary actions, scheduling or other personnel decisions.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Serve as a lead resource for Family Services Staff during assigned shifts.
- Provide peer guidance and procedural support related to daily operations and resident services.
- Assist with on-the-job orientation and reinforcement of established training and procedures for new Family Services Staff.
- Support effective communication between shifts and assist with the exchange of operational information.
- Help coordinate daily resident activities and programming to promote consistent service delivery.
- Identify operational concerns and communicate them to facility leadership as appropriate.
- Model professionalism, teamwork, customer service, and trauma-informed care practices.
- Serve as the primary Family Services point of contact during the assigned shift for routine operational questions and service coordination
- Help coordinate Family Services assignments and resident service needs based on established schedules, procedures, and direction from facility leadership
- Communicate unresolved staff coverage, resident care, safety, or operational concerns to facility leadership
- Assist in maintaining continuity of operations during shift transitions.
- Support a positive and collaborative team environment.
Resident Supervision & Family Services Coordination
- Provide direct supervision and monitoring of residents and support consistent implementation of resident supervision requirements throughout the facility.
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for children and families.
- Assist with coordinating age-appropriate recreational, educational, wellness, and family-centered activities.
- Support resident access to basic necessities, hygiene supplies, clothing, meals, and facility services.
- Assist in addressing resident concerns, requests, and behavioral challenges using trauma-informed approaches.
- Promote dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity in all resident interactions.
- Assist with resident orientation activities and help communicate facility expectations, available services, and safety procedures.
- Monitor resident movement and participation in scheduled activities.
- Support efforts to maintain family unity in accordance with facility requirements and established procedures.
- Respond appropriately to resident concerns, behavioral incidents, and emergency situations.
- Serve as a resource regarding de‑escalation techniques, crisis intervention, and established response procedures.
- Serve as a peer resource to Family Services Staff in applying trauma-informed and resident-centered approaches to behavioral concerns
- Assist in reviewing incident documentation for completeness and timely submission.
- Report significant safety, security, medical, or operational concerns through established channels.
- Support resident grievance and service concern processes as needed.
Compliance & Documentation
- Review routine Family Services documentation for completeness and accuracy and identify missing or incomplete information for appropriate follow‑up in accordance with established procedures.
- Complete documentation in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.
- Support audits, inspections, monitoring activities, and corrective action efforts.
- Promote adherence to federal, state, contractual, company, and facility requirements.
- Enter and maintain resident information, service records, and case notes in approved systems.
- Assist with resident intake, transfer, discharge, and service-tracking activities.
- Support case management and interdisciplinary teams by collecting, organizing, and maintaining required documentation.
- Generate reports and provide administrative support related to resident services and program operations.
Interdisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate with medical personnel, behavioral health staff, operations teams, case management staff, and facility leadership to support resident care and services.
- Facilitate communication regarding resident needs and operational concerns.
- Support continuity of services during admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Assist in coordinating services for families and children during their stay within the facility.
- Participate in team meetings and operational briefings as assigned.
Safety, Ethics & Professional Conduct
- Adhere to all confidentiality, reporting, and resident protection requirements.
- Model professional conduct and ethical behavior at all times.
- Support a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and resident dignity.
- Promote respectful interactions among residents, visitors, and staff.
- Report safety concerns, policy violations, and resident protection concerns through appropriate channels.
- Support compliance with facility policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness, sensitivity, and respect for diverse populations.
Required Qualifications & Core Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in residential services, family services, direct care, social services, or a related field.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience serving in a senior direct care, lead worker, senior family services, shift lead, or comparable role.
- Experience working with children, families, vulnerable populations, or culturally diverse populations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and service coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment.
- Strong documentation, reporting, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and sound judgment during stressful situations.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure effective communication with staff, visitors, government officials, and other contractor personnel.
- Experience with electronic records management systems, data entry, or case management systems preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn resident tracking, reporting, and documentation systems.
- Experience maintaining accurate records and handling confidential information.
Desired Skills
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
- Training or experience in trauma‑informed care.
- Experience in crisis intervention, behavioral support, or de‑escalation techniques.
- Experience in residential facilities, shelters, family services programs, detention settings, or other 24‑hour operations.
- Experience working on government contracts or within federally regulated environments.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable.

- Anovaeon operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year and requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and additional hours as operationally necessary.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods.

- Fully on‑site position within a federally contracted short‑term residential ICE facility in Alexandria, Louisiana.
- Fast‑paced, high‑tempo operational environment requiring professionalism, adaptability, attention to detail, cultural sensitivity, and sound judgment.
