Family Promise of West Michigan is seeking a dedicated Family Service Coordinator to support families facing housing crises at the Wyoming Park Family Shelter. This in-person, full-time role focuses on direct service, advocacy, and coordinating housing resources to promote stability.

The ideal candidate will have a social work degree, experience with housing or family services, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelor's in Social Work or related field required.
• Experience in direct service related to housing or family services preferred.
• Experience working with families and children.
• Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal.
• Must be able to work independently and in a team.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist families experiencing housing crisis by helping locate and maintain stable housing.
• Provide direct support, coordination, and advocacy for families.
• Maintain data integrity and documentation in private and statewide databases.
• Coordinate relationships with community agencies and resources.
• Assist with grant compliance and attend agency events as needed.
• Support shelter operations and handle on-call coverage as required.
• Build relationships with donors and assist with inventory and donations.

Salary Range: $48,000.00 To $52,000.00 Annually

We are seeking a Family Service Coordinator to join our team. The Family Service Coordinator is responsible for assisting families who are experiencing a housing crisis by helping them locate and maintain stable housing. This role provides direct support, coordination, and advocacy to ensure each family has the tools and resources needed to achieve long-term success.

This position reports to the Emergency Shelter Operations Manager.

Advocate and provide direct care services to assist families with navigating their housing crisis with the goal of gaining housing stability by:

Working with families to assess needs and develop resolution goals.

Evaluating families' access to basic needs including: health, education, housing, and child care and coordinating connection with resources within the community.

Maintaining data integrity and documentation to ensure private and statewide databases are up-to-date and accurate.

Utilizing best practice methods in working with families.

Coordinating relationships with community agencies.

Support families toward permanent housing solutions and help them establish a sustainable path out of homelessness.

Assist with grant compliance as needed.

Provides support with Family Promise special events as needed.

Builds and supports relationships with donors as needed.

Assist with shelter room transitions and weekly room checks.

Assess inventory of basic need items on site and restock items.

Gather and disperse hygiene and clothing donations to families.

Assist and coordinate in-kind donations with families and partner agencies.

Additional duties as needed to support the agency.

Masters or Bachelor's in Social Work or related field or equivalent experience

Experience in direct service related to housing or family services

Experience working with families and children

Comfortable working in a multi-faith, mission-driven environment.

Must be able to execute work in the alignment of core values of the organization.

Must have excellent communication skills, including both written and verbal communications

Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team

Must be detail-oriented and able to follow through on projects in a fast-paced, often pressured environment

Must be proficient in Microsoft office products and Google suite office products.

Documented valid driver's license.

This position is in-person, with work performed at the Family Promise - Wyoming Park Family Shelter. The Family Service Coordinator must be available to work full-time hours, with potential evening availability, if necessary. This position does require on-call capabilities and may be utilized to help cover shifts or meet facility needs as required.

This role requires frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds and the ability to stand, walk, and navigate a multi-level building throughout the shift.
