Job summary

Illinois Action for Children in Chicago, IL is seeking a Family Resources Specialist to support the IDHS Child Care Assistance Program. You will assess eligibility, authorize payments, and maintain case files with accuracy and confidentiality.

Under supervision, you will educate families about program policies, coordinate with Parent Consultant teams, and ensure high-quality customer service while adhering to organizational standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 2 years of customer service or related experience, or an associate degree or 60 college credits.
• Experience in data entry, social work, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and determine parent/provider eligibility and authorize payments as per IDHS policies.
• Prepare accurate documentation and maintain complete paper and computer records for each case.
• Inform parents/providers of program operation, policies, and procedures professionally by phone or in person.
• Provide excellent customer service to parents and providers over the phone or in person.
• Link parents with Parent Consultant teams for guidance on childcare quality indicators.
• Knowledge of IDHS Child Care Assistance Program and IAFC programs; determine eligibility when applicable.
• Ensure confidentiality of parent and provider information.
• Execute workplace core capabilities: accountability, customer focus, CQI, communication, competent people, clear priorities.
