The University of Iowa, Department of Family Medicine, provides expert patient care and support to children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. We offer a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including maternity care, in a safe, comfortable, and confidential setting. Our faculty have trained at various medical schools and postgraduate programs, bringing diverse expertise to our department. All physicians are board certified, and our faculty includes experienced physicians and educators. Department Chair Jeffrey D. Quinlan, MD, who served 28 years in the US Navy, encourages transitioning military physicians to apply.

The UI Department of Family Medicine seeks physicians for teaching and non-teaching roles to develop their careers within a thriving academic healthcare system. This is an excellent opportunity to practice comprehensive primary care, including outpatient, inpatient, and maternity services (operative or non-operative). Candidates are also encouraged to engage in departmental scholarship and explore research activities, both intramurally and extramurally funded.
