Summary

The Family Medicine Physician's role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients at Altru, providing comprehensive care for injuries and illnesses. Responsibilities include counseling patients on preventive healthcare measures and exercising professional judgment in alignment with Altru’s policies and standards. The position requires achieving annual Patient Engagement and Quality & Safety goals, supporting department objectives, and maintaining accurate and timely documentation to ensure quality patient care and appropriate reimbursement.

Essential Job Functions
  • Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients presenting with injuries or illnesses.
  • Counsels patients and advises on preventative healthcare measures.
  • Exercises personal clinical judgment in diagnosis and treatment consistent with Altru’s policies and standards.
  • Achieves annual Altru Patient Engagement and Quality & Safety goals.
  • Participates in activities that support departmental goals as defined annually.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation to ensure quality patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate in a specified field of medical practice from an accredited school.
  • Admissible to sit for either the Canadian or American Board, or certified by Canadian Board, and a member of the Royal College of Physicians, Royal College of Surgeons, American Board, or American Osteopathic Association.
  • Board certification in specialty obtained within six years of employment.
  • Granted medical staff appointment at Altru and associated facilities prior to commencement of employment.
  • Insurable under the Health System’s professional liability carrier prior to commencement of employment.
  • Legally licensed to practice medicine by the North Dakota Board of Medicine and/or Minnesota Board of Medicine, depending on practice location.
