Job Summary
Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington NC, in partnership with the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, is recruiting a full-time, non-tenure track academic geriatrician to be part of our dynamic team. The NHNHRMC Internal Medicine Residency Program is part of an innovative learner-centered academic program supporting twenty-three internal medicine residents. NHNHRMC is a branch campus of the UNC SOM supporting thirty full-time third-year medical students and additional acting interns.
A successful candidate must be ABIM Board Certified in Internal Medicine as well as geriatric medicine, eligible for licensure in the state of NC. Candidates should possess a strong interest in teaching, scholarly work, and interdisciplinary care of the elderly.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing geriatric care in inpatient, outpatient and long-term care as well as implementing and delivering the academic geriatric education content of the Internal Medicine residency and medical students. He or she will have a private half day clinic embedded within the resident clinic. Additional requirements include inpatient weekend coverage, nighttime phone coverage, and regular and regular bedside teaching and core curriculum lectures. The successful candidate should demonstrate a dedication to undergraduate and graduate medical education and be a role model of professionalism. Faculty rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
