Qualifications

  • Must hold licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, or eligible for licensure.
  • Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is necessary.
  • Must have current Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) required within 6 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical services as part of the OHS Fly-In program.
  • Work independently with nursing staff in remote locations.
  • Deliver trauma-informed care to Indigenous populations.

Overview

Family Physician 0.5 FTE – Pukatawagan First Nation

Independent Contractor

CLOSING DATE: Until Filled

Hourly Range: $237.32

Site Description

On-call stipend, Meal per Diem and Additional Hours. Experienced Family Physician required for OHS Fly-In program area. Willing to work independently with nursing staff.

Pukatawagan (Mathias Colomb) : 820 air kilometers northwest of Winnipeg.

Population: Over 2235

Physicians deploy from Winnipeg to community through chartered aircrafts, Monday morning returning Thursday evening.

In-province travel and accommodations covered by organization.

Out of province travel paid with physicians holding 0.25 FTE (1 week monthly).

Out of province travel paid for locum providers with a commitment of 2 consecutive weeks (12 days).

Qualifications
  • Must hold licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba, or eligible for licensure.

Certifications

  • Manitoba Opioid Antagonist Therapy (OAT) course or equivalent is encouraged
Skills/Abilities
  • Strong health assessment and clinical skills are required
  • Excellent leadership, critical thinking and collaborative interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, working as a member of a health care team alongside extended practice nurses, paramedics and other allied professionals
  • Must demonstrate an appreciation of Indigenous worldviews, cultures and be sensitive in providing anti-racist, trauma-informed care.
  • Must be able to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible.
  • Must possess a dependable, consistent and reliable work record, including attendance at work.
Compensation

Compensation is remunerated as per Doctors Manitoba

Northern Independent Contractor GP Agreement April 1 2023 - March 31 2027.
